iMovR Announces Pilot Program with Westin Hotels to Offer In-Room Treadmill Desks

June 5, 2015 (Marketwired) – Bellevue, WA – iMovR, a leading manufacturer of active office furniture such as height-adjustable standing desks, sit-stand meeting tables, and treadmill desks, announced today that is it has entered into a six-month pilot program with Westin Hotels to make it the first in the world to offer in-room treadmill desks to their guests.

The Westin Chicago River North property, operated by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., recently finished a complete renovation of all 429 of its guest rooms. To further promote Westin’s “Work Well” pillar, this hotel became the first test location for measuring the appeal of a sit-stand-walk workstation in their newly launched “Work While Walking” branded room, as a new and differentiated amenity to help guests stay fit while they’re on the road.

 

Business travelers, in particular, endure many hours of sitting while flying, driving, participating in meetings, dining with colleagues, and “camping” with their laptops to catch up on email, often in their hotel rooms. Sitting for too many hours a day has become a particular health concern for many people as awareness around the detrimental effects of “sitting disease” has spread through the media and through corporate wellness education.

The iMovR treadmill desks installed in the Work While Walking rooms allows guests to get their work done at a state-of-the-art height-adjustable desk while sitting, standing or walking slowly—typically at a speed of 1 to 2 mph.
