Standalone Slim (¾″) Solid Wood Desk Tops
iMovR's famous artisan-crafted, solid wood desk tops and table tops are often used to upgrade existing standing desk bases or as a component of a DIY project.
These slim tops are available in six sizes from 28″ × 41″ to 28″ × 71″, in a thicknesses ¾″. All tops are available in our 38 species and stain combinations. Optional dual grommet holes (3.15″ diameter) are available. Production time for all solid wood desk tops is 5–8 weeks.
These desktops are pre-drilled for the iMovR Lander Lite standing desk base but can be used with any existing base.
Precision Machined & Lovingly Handcrafted
Each iMovR solid wood slim top starts out as raw lumber, straight from the sawmill. After being carefully kiln dried, our artisans hand select each board to glue up into a truly beautiful, one-of-a-kind desktop. After planing and sanding the board to achieve the desired thickness, your solid wood top is precision shaped and pre-drilled on advanced CNC equipment.
Like all iMovR desktops, every solid wood top is ergo-contoured. Artisans carefully route and sand each top with a ¼″ round-over profile along the entire length of the user edge, for excellent comfort and wear resistance. After a final quality review, the hardwood desktop is then lovingly hand-finished in a 7-step heirloom-quality hand-finishing process comprising multiple passes of hand sanding and staining. No other real wood top you can buy for a standing desk is produced to such exacting quality standards.
The entire desktop—both top and bottom—is then finished with a Greenguard-certified, KCMA-rated conversion varnish, ensuring long life and reducing the effects of humidity changes on the wood. This formaldehyde-free finish protects the natural wood from moisture, chemicals, abrasion, and marring, while being safe for workers and your indoor air quality. Select From 38 Elegant Wood Varieties
For the discerning customer looking for the very finest in modern standing desk furniture design, iMovR is pleased to offer 38 different solid wood desktops. Made entirely in the USA (Michigan) from sustainable US-grown species and honest materials, these tops are a testament to American quality craftsmanship.
No other standing desk manufacturer offers as many shapes, sizes, species and stain combinations of real wood desktops. iMovR does not source any of its wood materials from outside the USA, and all our manufacturing processes comply with the most stringent EPA standards. We offer 5 tiers of species:
- Tier I: Red oak, with 8 stain options.
- Tier II: Maple is our most popular natural wood selection, with 10 different stain options. American cherry and hickory species are also offered in a total of 7 stain options.
- Tier III: Walnut is offered in three stain options and select cherry shows off the beautiful natural grain of the wood with fewer imperfections than the rustic cuts.
- Tier IV: Premium quartersawn white oak, coveted for its uniqueness and exceptional beauty.
- Tier V: Ultra-premium select walnut tops mark the finest in elegant wood finishes.
Note that the bottom of the desktops are not stained, since they are not visually-exposed surfaces, but they are fully sealed to ensure long-term durability.

Tier I
Red Oak
Red oak has color variations from light tan to pink, to red, to dark brown. This plain sawn oak is probably the most popular hardwood used in modern woodworking. Broad grains give red oak a pronounced appearance. It is heavy (42.5 lbs/cu ft), hard, stiff and highly shock resistant. Red oak has a medium fine, uniform grain.
Tier II
Maple
Silver maple is a highly versatile species with color variations from nearly white to light grey. Its lighter color allows us to offer more staining options than with any other species. Silver maple is moderately heavy (36.4 lbs/cu ft), strong and stiff, and moderately shock resistant. Silver Maple is known for its fine, uniform grain.
Rustic Cherry
Cherry has color variations from nearly white to light red to dark reddish brown. It is moderately hard, heavy (35 lbs/cu ft), strong and stiff, and highly shock resistant. Cherry is known for its fine to medium, uniform grain. The rustic cherry that was used in our desktops has visible knots and pitch streaks, giving it more character than costlier "select" cherry cuts, making it one of the most distinctive and interesting natural grain patterns for the dollar.
Hickory
Hickory has color variations from nearly white to dark brown. The combination of its hardness, strength, toughness, and stiffness are unmatched by any other hardwood. It is very heavy (50.5 lbs/cu ft), very hard, very strong, very stiff and extremely shock resistant. Hickory is known for its fine, uniform grain.
Tier III
Rustic Walnut
American black walnut is strong, hard and durable, without being excessively heavy (38 lbs/cu ft). Its color variations are light to dark chocolate brown. Walnut shows a wide range of figures, including strips, burls, mottles, crotches, curls and butts, giving it great character.
Select Cherry
Cherry is grown mostly in the eastern United States and has color variations from nearly white to light red to dark reddish brown. It is moderately hard, heavy (35 lbs/cu ft), strong and stiff, and highly shock resistant. Cherry is known for its fine to medium, uniform grain. The select cuts of cherry used for making these tops are free of large knots, pitch streaks and other imperfections found in "rustic" cuts, and showing off only their beautiful natural grain.
Tier IV
Quartersawn White Oak
This special quartersawn cut of the white oak tree is coveted for its incomparable beauty. It is commonly used in Craftsman style homes and furnishings. As compared to riftsawn and flatsawn cuts that are less spectacular, quartersawn has growth rings at angles of 45 to 90 degrees to the wide surface. White Oak is grown mostly in the eastern United States and has color variations from creamy white to medium brown. It is a heavy (45.8 lbs/sq ft), strong and very hard wood with high shock resistance and a medium fine, uniform grain.
Tier V
Select Walnut
American black walnut is strong, hard and durable, without being excessively heavy (38 lbs/cu ft). Its color variations are light to dark chocolate brown. The select cuts of walnut used for making these tops are free of large knots, pitch streaks and other imperfections found in "rustic" cuts, and showing off only their beautiful natural grain.
Choose the Finish for the Bottom of your Desktop:
The darker the desktop stain relative to the natural color of the wood, the starker the contrast between the top and bottom of your desktop. We offer three options for finishing the bottom of your desktop:
- Standard Sealed Bottom: Sprayed with two coats of finish to seal and protect the wood from environmental changes. May show wipe marks from artisan's hand-staining along the edges. Note: Darker stains on lighter-colored woods will show the greatest color variation between top and bottom.
- Spray Toned Bottom: In addition to standard sealing, the bottom is spray-toned with a stain color similar to the final finish of the desktop. Not as elegant as hand-wiping, but provides better color consistency between the top and bottom as compared to standard sealing. May show occasional wipe marks carried over from hand-wiping the top. A practical choice for masking the color contrast on lighter-colored woods with darker finishes.
- Heirloom Quality Bottom: Fully-finished to the same superior standards as the top of the desktop. Hand-wiped stain completely eliminates color contrast between top and bottom for all wood options. Keep in mind the most visually-striking side of the wood slab is always selected for the top surface. While the bottom may show a few more minor imperfections, the stain is exquisitely hand-applied on both sides. The most elegant option for matching the top and bottom of your desktop.
Add Grommet Holes:
Add fully finished grommet holes to your desktop for convenient power management placement and cable pass-through.
Add your Fly Deck Monitor Riser:
Relieve neck strain by propping your monitor(s) higher with the stylish and versatile Fly Deck by iMovR. This ultra-sturdy monitor shelf creates extra desktop storage space and keeps your working area better organized. Made-in-America, the Fly Deck is available in all 38 finishes that iMovR offers on our solid wood desk lines, for a perfect décor match.
Choose your Keyboard Tray:
Our Trackless Keyboard Tray is an essential part of an ergonomically sound workstation, with up to 15° of tilt for a strain-free typing experience. Your desk already comes with pre-drilled holes that accommodate this tray—making installation even easier.
Add a Storage Drawer
With its intelligent design and easy-gliding, precision ball-bearing tracks, the Hide-Away Storage Drawer works perfectly with most rectangular top sit-stand desks, including the iMovR Lander series. Its molded plastic tray has convenient storage compartments for holding pens and office supplies, and a large compartment for holding a keyboard, notebook computer, iPad, or anything else you need to store out of view.
